The Emergency Department at Cork University Hospital has reiterated its appeal to the public not to attend A&E without first exploring all other options available to them unless their needs are urgent.
CUH is reporting that the Emergency Department has been exceptionally busy over the past number of weeks.
In a statement to RedFM News, it says that this is due to a large number of very ill medical patients requiring admission resulting in some patients experiencing long delays in the ED.
Hospital management have requested that, where appropriate, the public should instead contact their GP or South Doc once their needs are not urgent.
