The Emergency Department at Cork University Hospital is warning the public that the increasing number of COVID-19 positive patients being admitted to the hospital, along with staffing challenges, is putting significant pressure on its services.
In a statement to RedFM News, they say that at present the ED is exceptionally busy and has been so for the past number of weeks.
CUH says that some patients may experience delays due to this increased level of activity and resulting admissions.
Hospital management are asking the public, where appropriate, and if their needs are not urgent, first to contact their GP or South Doc before attending the Emergency Department.
