An incident, where an elderly woman waited nearly an hour for an ambulance in the city centre, has raised questions about ambulance cover for the city.
A woman in her 80s required medical treatment after she collapsed at the Triskel Arts Centre on Monday night.
Paramedics had to drive from Milstreet to treat the woman - almost 50 kilometres away.
Speaking to RedFM news, Tony Sheehan, Triskel's artistic director, says the length of time it took for an ambulance to arrive was baffling:
"It raises questions about ambulance cover for the city. It really does. I mean, we are a city center venue we're three minutes away from from the Mercy Hospital. So it baffles me as to why it took so long for an ambulance to get to us and even worse that is hard to come from Milstreet".
