Gardaí say the contents of a threatening email sent to several schools in County Clare are 'not credible'.
A number of schools in Ennis and Shannon received an email from a named individual overnight which included specific threats.
The schools were forced to close this morning as a result.
Fianna Fail TD Timmy Dooley says some students had already arrived at impacted schools when the email was discovered:
"obviously the decision was taken under various protocols that exist across the school community to close the schools. So some kids had to be sent home. Others were able to be contacted through whatsapp groups, etc. So it has created a very significant amount of concern, I would say hysteria from some parents that have contacted me early this morning."
