The scheme was announced earlier this month to support small business and community organisations in the South West region following flooding caused by heavy rain.

Tánaiste Leo Varadkar visited Skibbereen and the wider region following the storm and said the damage to homes and businesses is an enormous blow at an already difficult time.

The scheme is administered by the Irish Red Cross and provides funding of up to €20,000 for groups who could not secure flood insurance.

Applications forms for support will be available on redcross.ie
