Emergency services have been mobilised in Macroom after a pedestrian was knocked down on the town's Main Street this lunchtime.
Details are sketchy but it's understood an elderly woman sustained serious injuries in the collision involving a lorry.
Gardaí are advising motorists that road diversions have been put in place as a result and there is no access to the town.
The bypass has been opened and drivers are urged to use the new road.
