A horror crash near Ringaskiddy this morning is reported to have claimed the lives of two people.
Emergency services have responded to the scene of the fatal road collision on the N28 to Ringaskiddy this lunchtime.
Gardaí confirmed to RedFM News that a car transporter jack-knifed leading to a multi-vehicle collision between Shannonpark and Shanbally Village.
Gardaí, firefighters and emergency services are at the scene of the fatal collision and a section of the N28 remains closed.
Diversions will be in place for the next four to five hours while emergency services and forensics are at the scene.
This latest fatal collision comes just four days after an 80 year old woman lost her life in crash in East Cork on Friday morning.
Betty Wall, a former Independent Councillor died following the single vehicle crash on St. Mary's Road in Midleton which occurred shortly after 10.30am.
A witness appeal was issued after the incident in Midleton and Gardaí are continuing to urge anyone with any information to contact the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
This latest crash in Ringaskiddy brings to 10 the number of people killed on Cork roads so far this year.
