Employment levels in Cork's Gaeltacht areas are at their highest levels in Údarás na Gaeltachta's 42-year history.
That's according to the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Gaeltacht's annual report.
The most significant increases in Gaeltacht employment during the year were in the medical devices, niche manufacturing and the audio-visual sectors.
However, food, drink, and traditional manufacturing and service companies bore the brunt of the majority of Gaeltacht job reductions.
According to the Department's statistics, employment remained steady in 70% of companies, while 16% of the companies supported by Údarás na Gaeltachta, increased their workforce during the year.
