Enoch Burke’s latest stint in Mountjoy Prison looks set to continue after he again refused the opportunity to purge his contempt for breaching a court order.
During a review of his detention, the judge was told that Mr. Burke is still getting paid his full salary, despite being dismissed from his teaching role over a year ago.
Today marked the 172nd day of Enoch Burke’s latest detention for breach of a court order, refraining him from attending at Wilson’s Hospital School.
When asked again today if he was going to obey the order, Enoch refused to answer. Instead, he began making further legal submissions.
The judge reminded him it wasn’t the time or place to make such arguments, and he was taken back to Mountjoy Prison after it became clear to the judge that he wasn’t going to purge his contempt, even after he told him he could return to his home and family today if he gave an undertaking to stay away from his former workplace.
During today’s hearing, it emerged Enoch is still being paid his full salary as he prepares to appeal the school’s decision to dismiss him.
