Environmental group Cork Harbour Alliance for a Safe Environment say, they will be keeping a close eye on an application by Indaver for an incinerator in Ringaskiddy.
The group were set up in 2001 when Indaver first sought permission to build a €160 million incinerator in the Lower Harbour.
They are strongly opposed to the development and have welcomed Friday's High Court ruling which saw the planning permission granted by an Bord Pleanála quashed and the application put back in time to 2017.
Speaking to RedFM News Linda Fitzpatrick from CHASE says they are happy with the judge's ruling in this long running campaign:
"We're absolutely delighted that our case was upheld , that the judge rules for CHASE on the grounds of objective bias which is absolutely unprecedented. And we just had to deal with it going back. And even with regard to the 2016 application, and you know the landscape in Cork harbour the legislation surrounding this policy. Waste policy They've all moved on. So, that will all be looked at in assessing this application which the 2016 application is quite apt to be assessed against 2021 standards.
