The Environmental Protection Agency is inspecting an East Cork beach after dead fish were discovered on the shoreline.

The Echo reports that a white coloured discharge was found on Cork Beg beach in Whitegate.

The EPA says its staff visited the site and also met with representatives of Irving Oil which is located close to where the fish were found.

A direct link to the incident and the refinery in Whitegate is yet to be established.
