An event in remembrance of those who died in nursing homes during the pandemic will take place this afternoon at 2 o'clock, beside Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
At the same time, there will a similar event in Dundalk, Co Louth.
Nursing homes in both Cork and Dundalk were severely impacted by the pandemic.
The organisers, Care Champions, expect more than 2,000 people will attend both events - in person and online.
Attendees are encouraged to bring candles, and photos of the loved one they lost.
The event will be live on the Care Champions' Facebook page.
Sunday is the National Day of Remembrance and Reflection on the Covid pandemic.
