The National Transport Authority has allocated funding to employ 23 additional staff to Cork City Council who will be working on delivering the Cork Bus Connects Programme
The Irish Examiner reports that the team will also be working on the rolling out of the infrastructure proposed for upgraded walking and cycling networks.
It’s hoped the Bus Connects Cork programme will be finalised early next year with a view to implementing the final proposals from 2023
The Bus Connects project includes a redesign of the city’s bus network, the building of new bus and cycle lanes, the introduction of a new ticketing system and a cashless payment scheme, new bus shelters, new park-and-ride facilities, and new zero-emissions vehicles.
