The range and quality of accommodation in East Cork must meet the expectations of an international traveller if the region is to attract more tourists.

A new report by Fáilte Ireland says the limited availability of places to stay across the region and lack of restaurants in Cobh in particular is a challenge facing the tourism industry.

The report launched yesterday says Cork city, the harbour and East Cork could become a global food destination in the short term.

Speaking to RedFM News Failte Ireland CEO Paul Kelly outlines where funding for the ambitious five-year plan will come from:

"Rural regeneration, urban regeneration, funding from other parts of Government, etc. So generally in Department of Transport, in the case of greenways, etc, so there's lots of potential sources of funding. "
