The family of a North Cork man who died at the start of March after a brief battle with cancer says they've been blown away by the generosity of people after they raised over €13,000 euro in his name for Focus Ireland
27 year old Thomas O'Donoghue from Kilworth had planned to take part in the charity's Big Rebel Sleep Out on Saturday night with his older brother Peter and as a tribute to his memory his family set up a fundraiser for the event
Peter says overnight €2,500 was pledged on the page and to date over €13,000 has been donated in Thomas' name for Focus Ireland
The charity's Big Sleep Out, which is supported by Cork's RedFM, has been run in public spaces for the past three years, but due to the Covid-19 pandemic, people are this weekend being asked to sleep out in the safety and security of their homes and gardens
Speaking to RedFM News Peter O'Donoghue says Thomas was a very good and compassionate person who was particularly anxious to help people without a home
