A family who have been living with ongoing rodent infestations in their Council house in Cork city are now facing problems with leaks in their home.

Anita and Mohammed Mukhtar have been living in the house on Fort Street for over 10 years and have already spent €20,000 carrying out essential repairs on the property.

Last weekend's Orange Weather Alert for rain led to water dripping through the roof of their house and onto the interior walls of her son's bedroom.

Anita has contacted the Council but she told RedFM News she's worried going into the winter and the impact the wet weather will have on her son's health:

"After the heavy rain, the leak came. It’s just unbelievable. We have to put some bucket or plastic bowl because it’s dripping. I’m worried about my son because it's his bedroom. He has asthma, he's taking inhalers and this is not good because it’s dampness.”
