A farmer who was killed by a bull in West Cork on Friday - has been named locally.
71-year-old Joseph Shorten of Castletown-Kenneigh and Ardkitt in Enniskeane - was found by a vet, who had an appointment to attend to the bull, shortly before 4 o'clock on Friday afternoon.
It's believed the pensioner was attacked by the animal when he went to open a gate, suffering crush injuries.
Mr Shorten was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post-mortem was carried at Cork University Hospital and a file is to prepared for the Coroner’s Court.
The Health and Safety Authority are investigating the incident.
