Farmers are living in fear of illegal hunters trespassing on their land at night.
The IFA is calling for a dedicated rural crime unit to tackle the surge in illegal hunting and lurching which can kill livestock and cause damage to land.
Dogs are often left at the sites with 9 lurchers currently in a Cork city shelter.
Speaking to RedFM News Vincent Cashman of the CSPCA says using dogs for illegal hunting is extremely cruel:
"Some farmers have confronted these people, some farmers have been assaulted by them. If these people who are hunting get rumbled on the land, if they get spotted, they will leave the dog and get off the land as fast as they can, and the dogs are left there. A lot of the time, these animals are not chipped or registered, and they don't come to retrieve their dogs."
