Farmers want to enter negotiations with the Government on future industry threats

The call comes as a number of rallies are being staged across the country by farmers voicing their concerns about the future of the sector in Ireland.

Hundreds of farmers are expected to descend on Emmet Place in the city tonight before marching up Patrick Street for a rally on the Grand Parade where they will be addressed by the President of the
IFA.

The action comes ahead of next week's budget, and many farmers are concerned about the future of the Common Agricultural Policy.

Munster Chairman of the Irish Farmers Association Harold Kingston told RedFM News that the Government needs to sit down with farmers and draw up a plan to hit the climate targets:

The IFA says farmers have been unfairly targeted by the governement in the climate debate.

Regional rallies are taking place in Cavan, Roscommon, and Portlaoise against the green agenda.
