The father of a two-year-old toddler, who was found with serious injuries in the home of a woman accused of murdering her, gave evidence at court in Cork today.
He told of returning to the apartment to find his daughter unresponsive, under a blanket on a sofa.
"2-year-old Santina Cawley's father, Michael, told the jury that he came back to Karen Harrington's duplex apartment on the Boreenamanna Road shortly after 5 o'clock on the morning of on July 5th, 2019.
He said he found the place in disarray and his daughter lying naked and unresponsive on a sofa.
Karen Harrington of Lakelands Crescent in Mahon denies the murder of Santina Cawley at Elderwood Park.
He told the jury that he left Santina on a blanket beside Harrington who was lying on a couch, when he decided to walk into the city.
He says that when he went into the apartment, he saw blood on the floor near the sink and broken glass on the ground.
He says that later, when paramedics and Gardaí arrived, another woman with Harrington told him that "Karen wouldn't touch a fly."
