A funding shortfall for a ferry to replace the Dursey Island cable car means that that the service will only be able to run three days a week
That's according to Independent TD Michael Collins who raised the matter in the Dáil today after it was confirmed that the reduced ferry service is set to start by the middle of this week
The cable car closed on the 1st April for repair without a replacement service being provided and caused disruption to the islanders and farmers with livestock on the island.
Now it's emerged that the replacement ferry service, which was announced this week, will only operate three days a week
Deputy Collins has asked the Taoiseach to go back to Minister Heather Humphries to get adequate funding for a seven-day ferry service which the Islanders, Farm Owners and Holiday makers expect and he says nothing less is acceptable.
