Although he wouldn't reveal how much would be set aside in October's Budget.

TV licences sales hit 7,166 for the second week of August, compared to 12,610 in the same week last year.

Speaking to RedFM News, Minister Michael McGrath says it has yet to be negotiated how much will be set aside in the Budget:

"The government stands behind public service broadcasting. We recognise the centrality of it in our democracy and we will continue to support it. When it comes to the Budget, it will be a matter of negotiation between Minister Catherine Martin and Minister Pascale Donahoe.
