The Irish South and West Fish Producers Organisation say they will peacefully disrupt Russian plans for the naval exercise 240km off the Cork coast as they say the impact of the military sonar and live missile launches has the potential to severely disrupt the annual migratory path and breeding season of fish like blue whiting, mackerel and tuna.
Patrick Murphy, chief executive of the organisation says the area is very important for fishermen and that they want to protect biodiversity and marine life.
On Monday the Russian ambassador to Ireland said that plans by Russia to hold navy military exercises off the coast of Ireland are a "non-story."
Foreign affairs minister Simon Coveney had earlier said the plans were "not welcome."
