Fishing trawlers off the west Cork coast, have been left tied-up as owners struggle with fuel costs.
Cork County Councillors were told at a meeting it's resulted in fish factories processing less, with one shop closing down due to a shortage in supply.
The Irish Examiner reports trawler operators are calling for an increase on the current 2 cent a litre subsidy.
They referenced the current subsidy offered in Italy and Spain of 30 cent a litre.
