Gardaí told Judge James McNulty at Bandon District Court that the three men and two juveniles allegedly travelled from Tipperary to Bandon last Friday with the aim of committing a burglary at a house which they believed contained a large amount of cash.
32 year old Larry O'Connor of An Duiche, Scahelene, Tipperary town, 26 year old Patrick Harty with an address in Mountain View, Bansha Road in Tipperary town and Jimmy Connors of Bank Place in Tipperary town were charged with several individual offences including dangerous driving, and entering as a trespasser to commit a burglary.
The court heard that Larry O’Connor was seen exiting the house while holding a crowbar and Gardaí claim that he had attempted to strike them with it.
The car the men allegedly traveled in was found to contain gloves, face coverings and a screw driver. It was also alleged that the registration plate affixed to the car was fake.
Judge James McNulty remanded the three in custody to appear before the court again on the 31st of January.
Two juveniles also appeared in court for their alleged role in the incident and were remanded on their own bail before also appearing in court again on January 31st with a strict warning to stay away from certain areas including County Cork.
