The deaths of 28 year-old Shane Grimes and 31 year-old Shane O’Sullivan are being investigated as suspected overdoses
The HSE says service users are being supported and the market is being monitored to see if there is a more dangerous substance on the city's streets
Speaking to RedFM News Former Lord Mayor of Cork City and local Councillor Colm Kelleher says a fresh approach to Cork's drug problem needs to be taken such as a supervised mobile injection facility
"In my opinion, there's very little blocking us getting a mobile unit up and running. we just need to bring all the stakeholders together and to get the ball rolling on it. I personally believe that a mobile unit would probably be quicker and more effective, because, you know, the proof is in pudding - it is mobile. We just need to get everyone around the table and get the finger out and get the ball rolling on this"
