The full extent of the damage to Midleton is becoming clear this morning following Storm Babet.
Flood waters that inundated the town yesterday have subsided and homes and business owners are beginning to survey the cost.
Around 30 patients at Midleton Community Hospital were evacuated, while two of the town’s large supermarkets suffered huge damage.
Gordon Reeves' wife Kay owns Cali clothing shop on the town's main street.
Gordon told RedFM News what happened to the store yesterday:
"It's what they call in America a flash flood. Unbelievable. Is when it got here to bubbling up the toilet was pouring in the back into the yard. I came in this morning you can see it's a fairly heavy, table turned upside down on the floor, has floated up. One of the ladies who works in here to take her down the roads were Chadwick's is to be safe and I was up to my waist in water. And I'm 6'3."
