A full scale search operation has been mounted in the Passage West area
Two units of Cork City fire service, the coastguard rescue helicopter along with local boats and fishermen are all involved in the operation which began after 2pm
It's believed a group of teenagers were out swimming when one of them got into difficulty in the water
The alarm was raised and emergency services responded to the scene including Mallow Search and rescue and Crosshaven RNLI
The coastguard helicopter was also scrambled in a rescue operation which is being co-ordinated by Valentia Coast Guard
