The funeral of Matthew Healy will take place later today.
The 89 year old died following an alleged attack in in Mercy University hospital on Sunday.
The people of Berrings, County Cork will gather this afternoon to pay their final respects to Matthew Healy.
The retired farmer was receiving treatment at Mercy University Hospital in Cork city when he died following an apparent attack by a fellow patient last Sunday morning.
A 30 year old man has been charged in relation to the incident.
Requiem mass for Mr. Healy will be held in St. Mary's Church in Berrings at 12 o'clock today and will be followed by a private burial.
Matthew Healy's death comes less than a month after his wife passed away.
