Gardaí are investigating the alleged petrol bombing of a house in Meadow Park, Ballyvolane shortly on Thursday night.
Videos being shared on social media seem to show several masked people throwing objects at the front door of a house before the blaze began.
In a statement to RedFM News, Gardaí say that they were alerted to reports of a car being damaged - and a house fire - before 8 o'clock on Thursday evening.
The fire was quickly extinguished by the Fire Service and no one was injured.
The incident remains under investigation and enquires are ongoing, but as yet no arrests have been made.
