Gardai appeal for information following aggravated burglary in Cork city

Gardai are appealing for witnesses after an elderly couple were threatened at knife point in Gurranabraher yesterday.

The incident occurred shortly after 7.30 yesterday morning when a man in his 70s and a woman in her 80s were threatened at knife point in the course of a burglary on Boyce's Street.

The male intruder left the scene on foot with a sum of cash.

Both victims were treated at the scene by Emergency Services personnel, their injuries are not described as life threatening.

In a statement to RedFM News Gardai say they are appealing for information and are keen to speak with anyone who was in the vicinity of Boyce’s Street or neighbouring streets between 6:30am and 9:00am who may have witnessed anything.

They are also appealing to road users with video footage from the Gurranabraher area between those times, to make it available to them.
