Gardaí appealing for information following truck theft and ramming incident

Gardaí in Bandon are appealing for information after a shot was fired during an operation to stop a truck that had been reported stolen in the area.

GSOC was notified of the incident that happened in the Forge Hill area of Togher yesterday morning.

Armed Gardaí shot at the window of the truck when the driver refused to stop and rammed two Garda cars in the Togher area of the city yesterday.

A man in his 30s was arrested and remains in custody today.

Gardaí are asking anyone who saw a white DAF rigid truck at The Pike on the Clonakilty to Bandon road between 7 and 8am yesterday to contact them.

They are also keen to talk to anyone who saw the truck traveling from Bandon towards the city, between Ballinhassig village and Fivemilebridge and from there along the back airport road towards Lehenaghmore and Togher between 10am and 11am.

Anyone one with dashcam footage from those areas during those times is asked to make the footage available to Gardaí in Bandon.

N71, The Pike, Clonakilty to Bandon, 8/11/23, 7am to 8am.

N71 - Bandon towards Cork City, 08/11/23, 10:10am to 11am.

R613 Ballinhassig village towards Fivemilebridge, Cork, 08/11/23, 10:10am to 11am.

Fivemilebridge up Black Hill, along the back Airport Road towards Lehenaghmore, 08/11/23, 10:10am to 11am.

Lehenaghmore & Forge Hill, Togher, Cork, 08/11/23, 10:20am to 11am.
