A man in his 20's was arrested and is being questioned at the Bridewell Garda Station

At 11 o'clock this morning Gardaí from the City Centre Policing Unit were carrying out a plain clothes patrol, targeting street level drug dealing, when they saw a man carrying a suitcase in Bishop Lucey Park.

The man, in his 20s, was stopped and found to be in possession of €6,370 of cocaine, 120 valium tablets worth €240 and a weighing scales.

Whilst dealing with this incident a woman, aged in her late teens, approached Gardaí and became aggressive. She was also searched and was found to be in possession of 350 tablets of valium worth €700.

The man was arrested and brought to Bridewell Garda Station where he is currently detained while the woman was also taken to the Bridewell for the purpose of a further search but was not arrested. A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

All of the suspected drugs will now be sent for analysis.
