Gardaí in the City reported using physical force 602 times so far this year - in the course of their duties .
That's according to Garda Commissioner Drew Harris' latest Monthly Report to the Policing Authority.
"Commissioner Harris' Report to the Policing Authority for July shows Gardaí in the city had the third-highest usage of physical force of any Garda division in the country.
Dublin South Central and Dublin North Central were the only two divisions who reported more use of force in July.
In the entire year up to end of July, there were 921 use-of-force incidents across all three Cork divisions:
602 incidents were in the city, 235 in Cork North, and 84 in Cork West.
Nationally, force was recorded being used by Gardaí 7,602 times this year to July.
The most common reason given for a Garda using force was to "protect the Garda member.
