Gardaí in Cork have arrested a British national this morning.
He was arrested for questioning about threats to kill a female Labour MP, just days after Tory MP, Sir David Amess was stabbed to death.
Tom Douglas has more for RedFM News:
"Gardaí from the Special Detectives Units in both Cork and Dublin, backed up by members of the Cork Armed Support Unit arrested a 41 year old British man in Douglas this morning.
Up to 15 gardaí were involved in arresting the man at his rented apartment at around half past 7.
He was brought to the Bridewell Garda Station in the city centre for questioning.
It's understood Gardai were alerted by British police to the suspect after he phoned the MP, who is in her 50s, and threatened to kill her - just three days after Sir David Amess was killed.
The Conservative MP for Southend West died after being stabbed while holding a constituency clinic at a church hall in Essex on October 15th.
A 25 year old man was been charged with his murder following the attack.
