It happened when a motorist failed to stop at a patrol in the north Cork town
On Wednesday, a silver car carrying three male passengers failed to stop for Gardai, who then chased the vehicle across farmland.
It's reported the driver of the car then tried to crash through a gate but failed and proceeded to flee on foot.
He was apprehended by Gardai in a nearby river and was arrested by Gardaí for driving under the influence of drugs.
It was later found that the car had no tax or insurance, and a quantitiy of cannabis and cocaine was found at the man's home.
A file will now be prepared for the DPP.
