Gardaí have made an arrest and are investigating a house fire which broke out on College Road.
It happened at around 1am yesterday morning.
The blaze was brought under control by the fire services and a man was taken to Cork University Hospital to be treated for injuries.
Gardaí say a woman in her 40's was arrested at the scene and is being detained at a Garda station in the city.
In a statement to RedFM News, Gardaí said:
"Gardaí are investigating a fire which occurred at a residence on the College Road in Cork at approximately 1am this morning, Sunday, 22nd September 2024.
The fire was brought under control by local fire services. Extensive damage was caused to the property. One male was taken University Hospital Cork for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A woman (40s) was arrested at the scene and is currently detained at a Garda Station in the Southern Region under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
The scene is preserved and a technical examination will take place today."
