Gardai are waiting on the post mortem examination results of the skeletal remains of a child that were found in east Cork last week.
The body was discovered during the search of an area of Killeagh on Friday and may have been lying there for over 20 years.
Gardaí say the nature of their investigation will now be determined by pathology and forensic tests.
Southern Correspondent with the Irish Independent, Ralph Riegel, says gardai are keeping an open mind in their investigation.
"At this stage there was no indications that there was foul play involved.
"What GArdai are saying is that the actual nature of their investigation will be determined both by the results of the pathology test and by the outcome of the forensic anthropologist's investigation."
