Gardai investigating the death of a teenage boy from West Cork yesterday

15 year old Craig Rodrigues passed away in the care of medical staff at Cork University Hospital after falling ill at Skibbereen Community School.

Principal Anton O'Mahony says the school community is 'deeply saddened' by the third year student's death.

He confirmed that Skibbereen Community School had introduced supports to help pupils cope with the tragedy, including full access to the student support team consisting of Guidance Counsellors, Chaplain, Year Heads, Learning Support staff, teachers, SNA’s and Management.

The National Educational Psychological Service are also at the school and are guiding the team with their work.

The incident is being treated as a tragic accident and a file will be prepared for the Coroner's Court.
