A number of armed men fired shots through the front door of a house in Avenue De Rennes at around 11:45 before fleeing on foot.
No one was injured and there have been no arrests.
Members of the Armed Support Unit and the Garda Dog Unit are searching the area, while the scene has been preserved for a technical examination this morning.
