A cyclist in his 60's was killed after he was struck by a car on the old N8 Cork to Dublin road, between Rathcormac village and Fermoy close to the mart.
The road is closed to facilitate a technical examination and diversions are in place for local traffic.
It's expected the diversions will be in place until at least lunchtime.
This death brings to six the number of people who have died on Cork roads in the space of a month.
