Gardaí now believe a missing Kerry farmer is dead.
They've reclassified the case of Michael Gaine to a homicide.
The last known sighting of Mike Gain was at a Centra store near Kenmare town on Thursday March 20th last.
His Toyota Rav 4 jeep was found at his farmyard the following day and he was reported missing.
After a 5 week search involving Gardaí , the army and specialist divers , the investigation into his disappearance was officially reclassified last night to a homicide - meaning Gardaí believe the 54 year old is dead.
130 witness statements have been taken and over 2000 hours of CCTV footage have been examined.
Gardaí are again appealing for information - saying there are persons who 'know what happened' - and any information received will be treated in the strictest confidence.
Michael's family has been updated about the change in status of the investigation and they continue to be supported by a Family Liaison Officer.
