Gardaí say the reduced speed limits on rural roads is being policed.
Speed limits on these roads dropped from 80km/h to 60 five weeks ago as part of the Government's 'Slower Speeds, Safer Roads' campaign.
19 people were killed on Cork roads last year and a campaign aimed at reducing road fatalities and making roads safer is underway since the New Year.
Inspector of Roads Policing in Cork County Fergal O'Donovan told RedFM News all road users need to feed into the road safety message:
"I think everyone has a part to play in relation to road safety. It's not just drivers, it's cyclists, pedestrians, everyone. How do we make it safe for everyone? And that's just proper behavior in the car, when you're out in a boat, walking around wearing high vis, when you're cycling, being lit up, obeying the rules of the road."
