Annual events like Freshers and Raise and Give Week have been heavily criticised by some locals

Some community groups in Cork say some people are afraid to leave their homes at night due to increased levels of anti-social behaviour.

Extra Garda patrols backed up by the Drug and Road Policing Units will be in place all week, with Gardaí warning they will be operating a pro-arrest policy

Speaking to RedFM News, Sergeant Michael O'Connell from the Community Policing Unit at Anglesea Street says the consequences for coming to the attention of the Gardaí can be very severe:
