Gardai are searching for a gang of car thieves who chased and rammed a Deliveroo driver in an apparent road rage incident in Cork late last night
The Deliveroo driver, a 23 year old Brazilian man, was chased by the car thieves from Mahon to Beaumont on the city’s southside when they rammed him on Woodvale Road around midnight.
The thieves drove off in the stolen car - a Skoda Kodiaq - and left the man trapped under his motorbike after suffering serious compound fractures to his leg.
Locals in the area alerted the emergency services and the man was stabilised before being rushed by ambulance to Cork University Hospital.
It’s understood the man told gardai at the scene he had an earlier interaction with the occupants of the car in the Mahon area and they had pursued him from there to Beaumont.
Gardai put out an alert on the car and the gang later rammed a squad car at 2am on the Old Mallow Road before fleeing the scene in the direction of North Cork
