Gardai in the city are warning people to lock their vehicles at night.
It follows a series of thefts in recent weeks in which one treadesman had €2500 worth of stolen
tools taken from his van.
In another incident €1200 was stolen from a car and another tradesman had €1500 worth of tools taken.
In the Echo today Gardai are asking owners to make sure their cars are locked before going to bed and that between the hours of midnight and 7am are the most likely times criminals will target vehicles.
In recent weeks theives also targeted estates in Watergrasshill.
