Lives are being put at risk every day on Cork's North Ring as goats are grazing on land adjoining the road
The road is one of the city's many artery routes and fears are high that the animals could cause a serious accident
Cork City council has spent €11,000 so far rescuing eight goats but it's understood there are nine more that need to be rounded up
Labour Cllr John Maher told RedFM News the goats need to be rescued as a matter of urgency and their owners prosecuted for mistreatment
"If an accident happens, we can't put a price on a life. And these goats are navigating across the North Ring Road, where we have our fire station, where we have a council depot, where we have many, many hundreds of residential estates. In the long term I believe this cost is a small cost. Let's rescue the animals, let's go about catching the culprits and making them pay"
