The Government has been accused of ignoring the plight of students at UCC after the Cabinet came to the College on Monday and didn't meet any Students Union reps.
It comes as the Students Union revealed that students at the college are couch surfing and others are living in their cars a couple of nights a week as they cannot afford the rents being charged in the city.
Up to €9,500 has been raised since last night through a Go Fund Me page established by the Students Union after their foodbankran out of supplies within an hour last night.
Over 100 students turned up in the first hour, and despite a restock, they ran out of supplies very quickly and had to turn students away.
The high demand for supplies at the foodbank will be raised in the Dail this lunchtime by Cork Solidarity TD Mick Barry.
Communications Officer with the Students Union Maeve Richardson told RedFM News that this is a crisis.
"The cabinet was here on Monday, and they didn't meet with the Students Union who represent the biggest stakeholder in any educational centre - the students.
"It was quite insulting for them to come on to campus and not to meet us, and only meet a singular student that was picked out by the university."
