So far this year, there have been 127 deaths on Irish roads with 10 of those fatalities on Cork roads
The Road Safety Authority says it's determined to reverse the rising upward trend in fatalities on our roads
Speaking to RedFM News Liz O'Donnell of the RSA says the spike in road deaths has to be seen as a "wake up call"
"We do have a plan we have a Road Safety strategy and and we're in the process of putting together actions and moving ahead on various actions to do with speed which is a killer behaviour and also impaired driving such as drug driving. And it looks like we are losing momentum in terms of reducing fatalities on our road"
