The Government is committed to road restoration works in East Cork after roads in the area were washed away during Storm Babet.
Junior Minister Jack Chambers says there is a clear commitment to ensure the roads are repaired despite a shortfall in the allocation of funding for the repairs.
The severe weather grant allocation of €13 million for this year has been heavily criticised as the estimated repair costs stands at €50 million.
However Minister Jack Chambers says some additional funding will be required next year to meet the expected costs.
"There's a clear commitment from the department and from Government to make sure we repair the roads that were damaged with the severe weather event last year. Some of the funding would be required. Some additional funding will be required again in 2025. But we'll work with the council to make sure we we have a program that works that restores the road network here in East cork."
